5, 4, 3, 2, 1…BLAST OFF!

Calling all astronauts! Teaching children about outer space nurtures their natural sense of curiosity and wonder. Many children are fascinated by the vastness of the universe, and introducing conversations and topics about things like the planets and solar system will engage and nurture their little inquisitive minds.

Although the concept of outer space may be difficult for children to fully comprehend, we do see their curiosity when they point to the clouds in the sky, or notice the moon out during the day, or seeing the stars in the night sky.

Learning all about outer space is just out of this world!

Let’s move from outer space into Kinder’s space – where they were busy working on their fine motor skills during sensory play. The Kinder class investigated new textures, smells, and sounds as they explored the different sensory bins. They created lily-pads out of slime for the frogs to jump back and forth on, they rolled up their sleeves and played with rubber ducks in a mix of chia seeds and water, and went fishing – slowly guiding the magnetic fishing rod to make the catch of the day. They built homes out of grass, small wood pieces and rocks for the geese and turtles, feeling the different textures as they did.

The learning experiences may vary for each classroom and age group, but all children are having the chance to explore their curiosity, use their imagination, be challenged, problem-solve, communicate with their friends, and have fun!

That’s a wrap on this week – may your weekend be about going on adventures, exploring, and having fun!
